The Argentine Chamber of Urban Developers, interested in facilitating access to education, has decided to grant five fourth scholarships for those interested in undertaking further studies by doing a master.

The scholarships for the “Master in Construction Companies and Real Estate Agencies Management” (MDI) arise as a result of an agreement between CEDU and the Argentine Real Estate Chamber and the Polytechnic University of Madrid. All those interested in the master were invited to participate and the selection of the scholarship holders was done after evaluating the CVs received.

The scholarships were also for the professionals of the provinces of the country who could take part of the master online through an IT platform and a Virtual Campus.

MDI has allowed the graduates to promote local and international networking through the exchange between all the professionals who have the master, contributing to the individual, professional and business growth. More than 7,800 students have obtained this degree in Latin America. The degree Master in Construction Companies and Real Estate Agencies Management is granted by the Polytechnic University of Madrid, after passing the final thesis, which is presented to both the local and international MDI Teaching Board.

During 2009 and 2010, CEDU has gathered together efforts in order to build a rural school in the Province of Misiones. The project’s name is “Uniendo Voluntades” (Helping Wills) and it arises from the collaboration of CEDU with the Asociación Civil de Padrinos de Alumnos y Escuelas Rurales (A.P.A.E.R.) in order to improve the building conditions in the Rural School No. 888. “Uniendo Voluntades” has arisen as a result of CEDU´s concern for habitability conditions in centers where educational activities are conducted.

On June 2^nd and 3^rd, and for the third time this year, CEDU traveled to Misiones in order to visit and check on the progress of the building of the Rural School No. 888. The water well drilling, land leveling, the perimeter fence and temporary bathrooms, goals planned for late May and early June, were completed. On the last days, CEDU representatives visited the school to complete progress evaluation of the construction and to coordinate the future tasks to be performed. On June 3^rd, the school supplies donated during the I CEDU Real Estate Conference were delivered.

For the second time this year and at the end of April, CEDU members have travelled to the rural school No. 888, in Oberá. The main goal of this trip has been to enter into agreements with the different building contractors who are going to take part in the construction of the new school. As a result of the agreements, it has been confirmed that in the following days the drilling that will supply with water to the school will be started. Besides, masonry works, metal structure assembly, ceilings and other tasks that will make the school project a reality will also be started.

CEDU, together with the architect Violeta Calviño and Mr. Pablo Tochetton, has done the first trip to the area. The visit has had as aim to get to know the place, and also meet the people and understand the needs of the future users of the school: teachers, students and parents, the board of directors of the institution and provincial authorities, who are also involved in the project of building the new school.

CEDU, with the collaboration of PR & DB Consulting Group, has focused in looking for materials, donations and the money needed to build the school. The project has received, through donations, collaboration from the companies: IECSA, SIKA, ISOLANT, ORTIZ, VITRODI and IDEAL SANITARIOS, the architect Violeta Calviño, and Mr. Paul Tocchetton.

Utility services and water conditions were verified in the area where the rural school will be built, 3 km away from Provincial Route 5, which connects the City of Oberá with the Town of Panambí on the banks of Uruguay River, 150 km away from the City of Posadas, capital of the Province of Misiones.

Prizes were delivered in the XII International Biennial of Architecture of Buenos Aires BA/09 at Recoleta Cultural Center of the Capital City of Buenos Aires.

The winners were announced:

First prize: Ángel Muñoz and Adrián Olivero from Mar del Plata.
Second prize: Natalia Bertoldo, Mariano Lo Celso and Javier Martino from Rosario.
Third prize: Yanina Zylberman, Cecilia Cambeses, Bárbara Lantschner and collaborators from the Capital City.

The jury was integrated by the architects Clorindo Testa, Carlos Sallaberry, Rubén Cherny, Enrique Cordeyro, Raúl Sáenz Valiente, Roberto Converti, Miguel Jurado, Enrique Fornieles and Luis Claro.

Projects have been received. 160 teams have enrolled (formed by 2-6 members with at least an architect in them). It is worth mentioning the enrollment of groups of the provinces of Argentina that have shown their concern about the building conditions of rural schools.

The contest was done during the XII International Biennial of Architecture of Buenos Aires BA / 09. It was organized by PR & DB Consulting Group and was held from October 3rd to 12th, 2009, at Recoleta Cultural Centre of the Capital City of Buenos Aires, where the projects were exhibited and selected by a distinguished jury.

CEDU and A.P.A.E.R. have materialized their dream by launching the contest “Design Projects to develop a Rural School”, in collaboration with the Art and Communication Center (CAYC) and Pichon Riviere & Díaz Bobillo Consulting Group (PR&DB). The main objective of the contest CEDU / CAYC is to design a Rural School, with the aim of generating new architectural projects offering building solutions and representing a tool to maximize the donors’ resources.
